Many people have considered having liposuction treatment performed on stubborn fat areas of the body, only to find the idea of it too much to handle. Traditional surgical liposuction may frighten them off because of the incisions or the anesthesia that is used. Non surgical liposuction may be too expensive. But is there a liposuction alternative?
There are several options that are not only non surgical but affordable as well. Recovery times are usually faster and easier when there has been no incision, and recover time is reduced. Some alternatives to consider include mesotherapy, lipodissolve, tumescent liposuction, and thermage.
With mesotherapy, doctors use amino acids to dissolve fat cells. A number of injections are required over multiple sessions, but eventually the body will eliminate the dissolved fat. This is a relatively painless treatment that requires no downtime or special recovery steps. It is also quite affordable compared even to cheap liposuction. Lipodissolve works in a similar way.
Thermage is different from the other two liposuction alternatives. It uses a laser to dissolve fat cells. It, too, is fairly painless and completely noninvasive. Patients may experience a slight warmth to the skin during treatment, but it fades rapidly.
A fourth alternative to liposuction is called lipomassage. Instead of vacuums, injections, or lasers, this option involves the use of electrical rollers that move along the skin, targeting areas of excess fat. This massaging action tightens the skin and encourages the production of collagen. Yet another alternative with which some people have had success is the use of firming creams. These are generally known to firm and improve the texture of the outer skin, however, rather than for the removal or reduction of fat cells. But better looking skin often gives the impression of slimness.
Anyone who is put off by liposuction prices or the side effects or recovery time involved in the procedure, should consult their doctor about the alternatives that are available. New techniques are being developed, like tumescent liposuction, that might be suitable as well. One that has grown in popularity is ultrasound liposuction. This option uses sound waves to break up fat cells. The fat is liquefied and then the body naturally flushes it out. Due to the new technology used, however, this can be an expensive alternative.
Whatever liposuction alternative is chosen, a patient should take steps beforehand to prepare her body. If overweight, losing a few pounds through diet and exercise is a good idea. Of course, an inability to lose weight can be what drives someone to consider liposuction. Still, no matter what alternative is chosen, the doctor will have the patient undergo some preparation that will only improve the odds for success.
